UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts is excited to announce that the latest volume of Dance Major Journal (DMJ) is now live. This year’s issue brings insightful perspectives from dancers on the issues that matter most.

The 2024 edition delves into topics such as the experience of being graded in ballet class, the importance of giving tap dance its due recognition in university programs, and how cross-training can prevent injuries while helping dancers become more versatile professionals.

Other engaging essays explore the integration of cultural identity in classical ballet and modern dance classes, the benefits and challenges of competition dance, imposter syndrome and valuable advice for freelance dancers and dance filmmakers.

Discover all this and more in the new volume, available online at the Department of Dance site for Dance Major Journal, or directly at escholarship.org/uc/dmj.

About Dance Major Journal

Dance Major Journal was established in 2010 by Professor Jennifer Fisher in the Department of Dance at UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts. DMJ serves as a platform for dance majors to share their research, opinions, and experiences, with contributions from both students and professionals in the field.
