Alan Terricciano Named Associate Dean of Academic Personnel and Undergraduate Affairs

The Professor of Dance takes on an expanded role after serving as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs for the past five years.

UCI's Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) has announced the appointment of Professor Alan Terricciano as the new Associate Dean of Academic Personnel and Undergraduate Affairs. In his expanded role, Terricciano will bring his years of experience and leadership to a broader set of responsibilities, including reviewing faculty merit and promotions files.

Terricciano has been an integral part of UCI and CTSA since 1994, serving in various roles, including Chair of Dance, Co-Chair of Music, Interim Dean, and most recently, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs. During his tenure, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving the needs of faculty, staff and students, and advancing CTSA's excellence.

As Chair of Dance, Terricciano played a critical role in the construction of the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), serving on the Building Advisory Committee and improving the process and, ultimately, the final building. As Co-chair of Music, he brought his collegiality to assist the department through a complex period of organizational and administrative challenges.

Terricciano has also served on numerous campus and UC-wide service committees, including Academic Senate Vice-Chair and Chair. He recently played a significant part in the updated review of UCI's guidelines for Professor of Teaching merits and promotions, further illustrating his commitment to supporting faculty colleagues and their achievements.

Aside from his administrative roles, Terricciano also has an impressive record as a composer for choreography, theater, and concert halls. He has created over 150 original scores and worked with esteemed organizations and choreographers, including the Minnesota Orchestra, the Paris Conservetoire and Donald McKayle. In 2000, he won the Grand Prize in Quebec's Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur international competition. In 2006, Arts Orange County named him Artist of the Year (2005). He is about to release an album/recording of his compositions entitled "Other Dances, Other Songs" on the European record label, Phasma-Music.

Associate Dean Terricciano's appointment to the expanded role is a significant boost to CTSA's leadership team. His longstanding record of excellence and achievements at UCI and CTSA will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to the school’s journey and path ahead.
